I concur. That's how I was instructed to work such a problem.41
I just did a problem similar to this in my math class this term...
to get the answer, you do the multiplication first then addition:
40+(40x0)+1
40x0=0
40+1=41
41Can you answer this without googling it.
40 + 40 x 0 + 1 = ???
based on the OP...it has to be 41..... I only inserted the () as a way of demonstrating the multiplication problem first..... you can get different answers depending on where you put the () also....I can come up with 2 answers depends on what () and [] you insert
1, 41,
so vote for your favorite
its 1...the only time you would multiply 40x0 would be if it was in ()Can you answer this without googling it.
40 + 40 x 0 + 1 = ???
NOPE.....its 1...the only time you would multiply 40x0 would be if it was in ()
example 40+(40x0)+1=41
but 40+40 is 80x0 is 0+1=1
You don't put () were you want, it has to be original placed in the equation for a reason
and [] is only used when you need to put as for example 40+[(40x0)+1]=? which the answer would be 41 or [40+(40x0)]+1= 41, () gets figured first, then [], then everything afterwards
Hmmm...I don't remember an order of operation, but my calculator proves your right, and my bosses kid who is going to college explained it to me also.NOPE.....
Do it on a calculator if ya dont believe me..... it is just a matter of doing the math in order of operations.... multiplication or division comes first unless there are () or [] then addition and subtraction. SO as written 40 + 40 x 0 + 1 = ??? the only answer you can get is 41
I didnt remember it either but I happen to be taking algebra :4-book: this term so it is not like I am a mathematics wizard :3-dunce:..... It is only a matter of right place...right time....Hmmm...I don't remember an order of operation, but my calculator proves your right, and my bosses kid who is going to college explained it to me also.
When I first looked at the problem, I thought that something was missing from the equation. The brackets being included would have made it easier. Then I remembered that you do the multiplication first. :1-say-yes:I didnt remember it either but I happen to be taking algebra :4-book: this term so it is not like I am a mathematics wizard :3-dunce:..... As for how many masons does it take..... it depends on the degree you are working....:1-wink-grin:
Change, you want to CHANGE something? How many Masons...
That is easy when you are married with kids. Say you have $20 in your wallet. Government takes $5. The wife takes $10 and the kids take $10. Leaving you in debt. There is a mechanical linkage in these operations that must be remembered for this is how the universe actually Works.
If my wife let me have a 20 and the govt took 5 she would be mad and take the rest.....:1-wink-grin:That is easy when you are married with kids. Say you have $20 in your wallet. Government takes $5. The wife takes $10 and the kids take $10. Leaving you in debt.
